Is there an easy way to get user signups via SMS?

We know that the Guestbook app exists for signing people up on the go, and we also have created a form on a mobile-accessible website for use on other mobile devices as well, but we were looking for an even simpler way to get people signed up on the go. Something that doesn't involve handing off your device to someone and having them type it in, and can be easily advertised.

Is there any way for people to send a text message to an SMS shortcode (5-6 digit number) and then have that information fed into MyEmma, or at least into some sort of format that makes it easy to copy into MyEmma? I know other email marketing providers, such as Constant Contact, have this functionality, and would like to know if it exists (or can exist) for MyEmma.

We have been an Agency with Emma for several years and offer our Clients additional services that extend outside of the Emma platform (including Facebook applications, Interactive Surveys, Mobile Website Design/Hosting, and SMS/Text Marketing).

While the Emma platform does not currently offer/support SMS/Text Marketing the capability that you are seeking does not currently exist... without utilizing other third party software.

As part of our SMS/Text Marketing platform we do support "Text To Join" features... and unlike the feature with Constant Contact, our Clients own their Client's Phone Numbers (it is 100% opt-in) for marketing purposes and can send them marketing messages as well.

The way our "Text To Join" works is that a Client will pick their keyword that they want their Guests to send to their shortcode. Unlike Constant that seems to only offer two shortcodes, we have 8 different ones and if a Client really wants they can obtain their own (but this is discouraged based on the costs).

Once a keyword is set-up and a Guest sends the keyword to the shortcode they will get a message back welcoming them to that Client's VIP Text Program. The message contains a link to a URL that the Guest is informed will ask for a few additional pieces of information but will also reveal a special offer. Once a Guest clicks on that URL they will be prompted to provide additional demographic information through a mobile form that is a part of our SMS/Text platform. Once they provide that information then the Guest is sent a Mobile Coupon to their phone. This is a much more secure way to create an opt-in offer as it is limited to one time per phone number (people can easily create multiple "free" emails to get additional opt-in offers... but people won't buy multiple cell phones just for a free menu item).

Lastly, the backend of our SMS/Text Platform produces a database that can easily be imported into the Emma platform... thus delivering a multi-platform marketing solution unlike anyone else.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Morning! Emma does not have SMS text to join. You would have to use a 3rd party provider (and we just happen to be a 3rd party provider..imagine that :)

So long story short is you can pay for a keyword...example:
Text CARR to 35819 to join our email list.
End user texts in and receives.
"Thanks! Please reply with your email address to join"
End user replies with
rockandroll@yahoo.com and receives
"Sweet! We officially have you on the list. Stay tuned!"

While we don't currently have an API with Emma we can easily program a weekly csv file containing the emails to be emailed to you for an easy import.

That's it in a nutshell..let me know if I can help.

Textiful allows you to easily collect email addresses via text message and automatically sync them to your Emma lists. It's fully integrated with Emma and setup only takes a few minutes. More information is available at https://textiful.com.
