Add ability to see total number of recipients in send

In the older version of Emma, you could see the total amount of recipients that you were sending to. The group totals would add up to a grand total of recipients.

In the new Review + Send, this ability is gone and it is effecting my campaigns. I have many groups that I send to and know roughly how many individuals should receive each e-campaign. It is so much more difficult to make sure I'm sending to all of the groups I need to be because it is difficult to see how many recipients there are. Will this become available anytime soon?

In connection with this, because I missed a group or two, I have to send to these groups separately. However, if any individual exists in a group that has already received the e-campaign, they will receive the email twice. Is it possible to send a copy of an e-campaign to one group and have it de-dup from the groups that have already received that email? Can this become available?

Thank you,

Courtney

Hi Courtney! When you say the total number of recipients, do you mean across all groups you’re sending to or within each group? The latter is possible — When you select a group from the Review & Send page’s dropdown menu, the number of members in that group appears next to the group name:

Selecting a group adds it to the Choose recipients field, and the number of members are retained there:

I think you mean that you’re wanting to see the combined number, so in this example, you want to see 166. Is that right?

To your other point, it isn’t possible to send to Group A now and then Group B later and have Emma automatically de-dupe. But you can create a search for all members in Group B who aren’t in Group A so that no one receives the mailing twice.

Hello again! I want to check to see if I’m understanding what you’d like to be able to see. Would you mind confirming, and then I’ll take this to our product teams?

Thanks!

Hi Katie, Thank you for the follow up. I did mean the first option, to see the combined total of all groups. And thank you for letting me know about the option for creating a search. I hadn't heard that explanation before, so I appreciate you bringing that up.

Hi Courtney, thank you for your feedback. Your suggestion to display the total number of recipients selected for a mailing is a good consideration as we look to optimize the workflow around creating, reviewing and sending mailings. I assume the goal here is to display the total mailing audience size, de-duping members who appear in multiple groups, correct? We'll take this under consideration. It's not currently planned for development but if there's a thoughtful way to work this in, we'll try to make it happen.

In regards to this idea: "Is it possible to send a copy of an e-campaign to one group and have it de-dup from the groups that have already received that email? Can this become available?"

I like the idea you're proposing to have multiple "sends" of the same mailing be aware of the other sends to ensure that the mailing (a) gets to everyone you're intending and (b) only goes to each recipient once. With that said, it's quite a jump from our notion of a mailing copy today, so this is not planned for development. Hopefully creating a search will solve this use case for you, as Katie suggested.

Thanks again for the feedback. We'll keep any eye for demand on surfacing the total number of recipients as part of the review & send process.

Hi Courtney -- We recently made a small change to the Response overview that I believe accomplishes what you're looking for here. You may have noticed that instead of listing the number of "recipients," we now display how many recipients you "Sent to" (see top right corner of the Response overview).

This number will not change and is meant to remain static so that you can compare the number you sent to with the number that were successfully delivered to. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

Is there a way to get a count of the total number of active contacts? I want to monitor it as we are getting close to the next level in pricing.

Yep! Go to your Audience page and click the “View all contacts" button. The tabs along the top show the breakdown of Actives, Errors and Opt Outs across your entire audience.

Great. Now how do I delete a large list of contacts? We have over 300 that we do not want to email to but they are not opt-outs.

Hi there! I’ve added some more information about this in the separate conversation we’re having here. :)
