Is it possible to set the default placeholder text to another personalization tag? For example, I have a heading that reads, Happy New Year, [% member:first_name default=" "
%]. Instead of setting the default as "friend" or "colleague," I'd like to add the company name as the default when there is no first name. How would the coding look?

Good morning!

I performed some pretty extensive testing on this in multiple different scenarios and it looks like you would not be able to nest a personalization field as the default.

An alternative would be to utilize dynamic content to detect if the contact does not have a value for your first name field.

An example of this might looks like:

[% if member:first_name == "" %]

Hello [% member:company_name default="Member" %]

[% else %]

Hello [% member:first_name default="Member" %]

[% endif %]

Fore more on dynamic content feel free to have a look at our resource center article here:

Thanks!
