Adding postal address to sign-up form

We have a newsletter that is available to our clients by email or postal mail. Right now, we are collecting email subscriptions through our website but I would like to move that to an Emma form so that emails are automatically added to our mailing list. However, I would like to give subscribers an option to receive by email and/or by postal mail. On the sign up form, I can't make email address an optional field the way I can with name, address, etc. Thoughts on how I can accomplish this with just one form? Also, will I be able to export the subscribers' postal addresses for my print list?

Hi there!

The email address field is a required field in Emma and that field must be completed when using a signup form.  You can create a new contact field using the radio button menu feature so that you can ask your new contacts their preference on how they would like to receive your newsletter.  Head over to your Audience page and click on the 'Manage contact fields' button.  Click to create a new contact field and select the radio button menu option:

Enter in your options, for example:

You can now run a segment in your audience to search for contacts that prefer to receive your newsletter by postal mail:

You can export the segment to a .csv file which will include the contacts mailing address that they provided.  You will want to make sure that you remove these contacts from your group that you will send the newsletter by email so that they do not receive the newsletter by postal mail and email.

That should do the trick!  Feel free to reach out with any questions or if there is anything else I can do to help!
