Automate email - can I trigger by a link click in another automated email?

I'm trying to accomplish a series of 3-4 automated emails that get gradually more specific each email. The way I envisioned doing this was by triggering each wave by the link the recipient clicks in the previous email. Example:

Email 1: All recipients
Link A
Link B

Email 2: Those who click Link A
Link C
Link D

Email 2: Those who click Link B
Link E
Link F

However, when setting the trigger I'm only given the choice between scheduled mailings or previously sent mailings- it does not show me the automated mailings.

Is there a way around this? Sorry if I'm over-explaining or if this has been answered. I haven't seen a solution yet.

Hey there!

Thanks for reaching out. No reason to apologize, because I'm pickin' up what you're puttin' down! The way you would need to do this in our Automation feature is that you would have to manually send out email #1, or schedule it to go out (since there's nothing triggering it), and then you'd create multiple workflows based on the individual link-clicks that follow email #1.

So, you'd want a workflow for 'clicked link A', that would contain email #2, along with links C and D.

Then you'd want another workflow for 'clicked link B' that would contain email #2 with links E and F.

Does that make sense? Feel free to set it all up and then test it to yourself, clicking on the various links. If you need some guidance on setting up the link-based trigger, the steps are here. Let me know if you have questions, and I'll be glad to help.
