Automated Birthday Messages Sending Late

We've been sending automated birthday messages for two years now without any issue. This morning, a number of individuals responded to the birthday message pointing out that we were 2, 3, 4+ days late to send the message. I've checked all their records and their birthdays were on 9/16, 9/18 etc. but their messages weren't delivered until last night (9/20). 

Do I need to pause my workflow? Update something? Or was this just a weird glitch. As a university sending this message to our alumni it's damaging to our relationship with our constituents if this becomes an ongoing problem.

I'm sorry to hear that we saw some delays in your automation. It is possible that the mailings between the 16th - 20th were backed up in regards to when they went out. Because your automation has only 1 mailing I think it would be a good idea to deactivate, then reactivate to see if this helps with future sends.

Hopefully this was a hiccup in our sending process but please let us know if you see this again so we can investigate a bit further.
