We have a client that provides us an updated list for an "Active" group and a "Non-Active" group. We have a different email that goes to each group. When we import the lists we import them into their corresponding group. A situation just arose where we found out that a few people that were Non-Active last year, are Active this year, received both emails. This is our only client that handles their database and emails this way. I'm having a hard time determining the best way to perform our updates so that if a person has changed their active status can be targeted for their new, existing status and not end up receiving the email for their previous status.

Hi Davin,

Thanks for contacting the Emma Support team!

That is definitely confusing! One of the things I'm thinking of is that you could create a Contact Field (and corresponding column in a spreadsheet) that indicates the status of the member. That way, you can segment off of their status; you can pull contacts that are active or non-active.

You can create a segment that pulls all contacts in the Active Group "AND" Status = Active. And you can do the same for the Non-Active group.

You would only need to make sure your client is updating that status field in the data they give you.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions,

thanks, that makes sense since the field we create will get replaced if their status has changed since the previous import.
