Does Emma have an "add to calendar feature"?

We send several invitations out. I have received invites with an option to "add it to your calendar." I have not seen this in Emma. Does it exist?

Hi everyone! Good news - you can already do this with Emma!

Using Emma’s document library, you can add calendar event files - called .ics files - to you library, and then link to them as you would any other file (like a PDF for example).

Since each calendar program is a little different, I can’t provide specific directions on how-to, but you can export events from iCal or Outlook as an .ics file. Then take the .ics file and load it into your document library, which is found here on the campaigns page:

Click on the “documents” button to open your library and upload the file.

Then while creating your mailing, you can turn any of your text into a link to this file. High-light the text of your choice and then look for the link button on the tool bar:

Then select the document as the link source:

When your recipients click on the link, they’ll be prompted to download the ics file - which will add the event to their calendar. I hope this helps!

I just tried to do this and it is not working. I have the .ics file, but My Emma will not allow me to upload it as a Document. It says it is an invalid file type. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Hi!  We’re currently investigating this on our end, and I’ll be back here with an update when I know more.  Thanks for the heads up!

Good news!  We found the bug that was causing this error message, and we’ve put a fix in place.  You should now be able to upload .ics files to your document library.  If you run into any more trouble, please let me know!

I just tried to upload an .ics file and it tells me the file type has to be a PNG, GIF, JPG or JPEG.

Hi Oregon Zoo -- It sounds like you're uploading that .ics file the Image library rather than the Document library. You'll find the Document library at the top of Campaigns, right beside the Image library:

Let me know if that doesn't do the trick!

I've had success with creating an .ics file in Outlook and then uploading and linking to that...but it would be great if the whole process could be done within Emma. I believe Constant Contact has something like this available. Can this go on the wish list?

Hi! I'm moving your post into a new one for us to chat through this idea. :)

Please reference the new conversation here: Add event to calendar without uploading .ics file

Can this be done from the generator? Sure would be nice. I don't see a place to link to a document from the generator. Please tell me I'm just not seeing it. :-)

Hi Katy, can you clarify what you mean by "the generator"? :)

I think a word fell out of my comment LOL! The BUTTON generator. Quite the important contextual word to leave out, if you ask me. :-)

Ha - Yes, that makes more sense! I'll put that in as a feature request!

Have you thought about using the Eventbrite block in your mailings?
