Can we segment subscribers in European Union?

With the upcoming GDPR law, I'm thinking it might be a great idea to reach out to just those subscribers to ensure they would like to continue receiving our emails. Is a way to segment my list and reach out to subscribers located in the European Union?

I tried running a segment for Country > Does not equal > United States AND Country > Is not empty, but there are still too many subscribers.

Any thoughts would be great. Thanks!

Hello!

This is typically a great way to maintain a healthy list, especially in regards to GDPR.

Some notes on segmenting. If you're looking to segment based on a specific field value, its typically more forgiving to use the 'contains' search modifier rather than equals.

The data would need to exist within your contact base before segmenting so any contacts mislabeled or not having country information filled out could be missed here.

With that said it sounds like you're on the right track with segmenting your non US recipients!

Our GDPR information and more can be found at myemma.com/trust

If you feel like you've narrowed down your sending audience also have a look at our opt in confirmation article here:

I hope this helps provide some direction!

Thanks

Thanks for the tip on using the "contains" modifier. I'll give that a try to see what my list looks after that.

Just to confirm, do you have any IP address data on these customers (from when they open emails) that we might be able to use? Not sure if there is an IP range for Europe or not, but thought I'd check. ;)

Hello!

We don't store IP addresses of recipients in the application. This may be something externally that can be utilized though!

I did find a site that lists major IP address blocks by country if you're interested:

Thanks!

I'm confused. Your privacy policy says you do:
Device Information. We collect information from your device and applications you use to view emails sent via our Services, such as your IP address, device attributes (for example: hardware model, operating system, web browser version, as well as unique device identifiers and characteristics), connection information (for example, name of your mobile operator or Internet Service Provider, browser type, language and time zone, and mobile phone number); and device locations (for example, internet protocol (IP) addresses and Wi-Fi information).
Is it just that you collect it but don't store it?
