We have one or two contacts that we want to stop from being about to sign up for our emails, I know we can delete them but they can still sign back up via our website. Is there a way to do this on EMMA?

Hello!

There is a way to block email addresses from being able to sign up for your list, and it actually involves the delete feature that you mentioned.

If you delete a contact, that archives them in the system as being someone that you don't want to have on your list. If they attempt to sign up using your form, they would be greeted by this message:

If you change your mind on a contact or accidentally delete the wrong person, you can always un-delete them from the deleted items section of your account.

I hope that is helpful! Keep me posted on any questions or concerns you have about this.

Is there a way to remove a contact, so that they aren't counted towards our contact total, but allow them to re-sign up in the future? Some sort of archive feature? We cleaned up our audience lists but recently had someone try to join up again, and they couldn't.

Thanks.

Hey there!   The best way to achieve this would be to move them to opt-out status.

If a contact who is in opt-out status signs up via a form, they will get a message explaining that they need to confirm that they'd like to opt-in.  An email will be sent to them with a link they need to click in order to opt back in.

While it does introduce another step, it is something that can be done by the contact so they wouldn't need to reach out to you.

That said, if anyone does reach out to you who has been archived in the account, you can manually add them back in.

Let me know if you have any additional questions!

Hi Grey:

Thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, opt-out status does not count towards our active email address total and therefore, does not impact the total that determines our billing level?

Thanks!

Yup!  That is correct!  Opt-outs and errors do not count toward your billing.
