We send out multiple newsletters, and I don't want someone who unsubscribes from one newsletter to be unsubscribed from all of them. Can we offer our email recipients the option to unsubscribe from one list and stay on another?

Hey there! You definitely have this option and what you'll want to do is customize your signup form(s) so that users have the option of which group(s) they want to be a part of. This way, they can manage the correspondence they receive from you instead of opting out of all of your emails. (Check out step #8 on this page for instructions: http://myemma.com/resources/how-to/cu....) When they click to manage their preferences, they'll actually be changing their group membership based on their interests.

Hopefully this helps, but please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Hi Tyler -- I don't think this is quite what I'm looking for. As an example, there is a sign-up form on our blog (e.g. http://www.oen.org/blog/why-you-shoul...) that routes people into two groups: 1) our monthly newsletter group, and 2) our weekly event emails group. I don't want to give people the option of which groups to sign up for, because I want to keep the form as simple/streamlined as possible and we'd like them to be in both groups to start. However, if they opt out of our weekly event emails, I don't want them automatically opting out of our newsletter too. So, if they click "opt out" from the event email, can they get taken to a page where they can elect to stay in the monthly newsletter group? Basically a page where they can manage their subscriber options?

Another example is that we have a small group of angel investors (about 120) who we'd like to email through Emma on a monthly basis, but many of them are no longer receiving any of our Emma emails because they have opted out of the newsletter.

Hello! I definitely understand and to accomplish this, you would need to give the folks the option from the get-go to select which groups they would like to be a member of to receive a particular newsletter. Not giving them this option will run into the same scenario if they select to opt out, they are opting out completely of receiving any emails from you.

Sorry as it sounds like this is not ideal with how you would like these setup, but this would be your best steps to take to avoid those folks from being opted out completely from all groups.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

This option is not the best one if you already have a lot of distribution lists going with lots of people added already. Is there a way for them to manage the list by clicking on a link (manage preferences) at the bottom of the most recent enewsletter?

Hey there! A manage preferences link is included in the footer of the email, so an audience member is able to click on this link to manage their preferences and select which groups (interests) they would like to receive information from. I've included a screenshot below which comes up when I clicked on the manage preferences link on a test account mailing

The initial step though to have these preferences/group options would be to set up the signup form in the manner we discussed prior. Hopefully this helps, but please let me know if any other questions come to mind.

Is there a way to let recipients opt out of certain types of emails, without opting out of all communications??.

Hi,
We send our members a variety of emails to fulfill their membership in our organization. As of now, when they opt out of one type of email, they are in effect opting out of all communications from us. Is there a way to allow recipients to manage which types of emails they are opting out of? For example, they might want to opt out of our weekly newsletter, but still receive our quarterly, digital magazine. It appears that is not possible with our account. The footer says they will no longer receive any communications from us, even though we still need to send them transactional (not marketing) emails. Thanks for your help.

opt-out options: options to opt out of one list w/o totally unsubscribing?.

Hi there, we have people who are on multiple lists and right now, if they unsubscribe from our news feed then they unsubscribe from everything, including important updates. Is there a away to create an opt-out form whereby when they try to unsubscribe they have a choice to unsub from news or updates or everything? Please advise thank you!

I have a similar, related question. Can we customize the footer in our emails to remove the "opt-out" option and just provide the "manage your preferences" option? Then, from the "manage your preferences" page, we would show people the various mailings and give them the option to subscribe/unsubscribe from specific mailings or to unsubscribe from all communication?

Hey there! The opt out link at the bottom of emails is a requirement under federal spam laws, so we're unable to remove it. We can, however, change the language surrounding those links to make it clear that changing subscription preference is an option.

If you're looking for a simple change in language, just let me know what you'd like that footer to day. The only two items that are required are the opt out link, and the physical mailing address; we can change or remove anything else.

If you're looking for a bigger overhaul of your footer, our design team can create a custom footer for you. To get that process started, head here and fill out the design form. Let me know if you have any more questions!
