Structure HTML code upon pasting it

I find that the P DIV and BR tags are added to the code using the visual editor and I am not sure how to control what is added.

I decided to use the CODE editor, but this dumps the entire HTML code into a single line which I need to format myself. I find this to be a problem and I would like to ask how can I get the HTML in the CODE editor to be structured better to make it easy to edit?

Hey there! I want to make sure I'm in the same place as you: When you say you're looking at the code for the visual editor, do you mean you've gone to your Campaigns page and are working in an email using the drag & drop editor?

It sounds like once in the drag & drop editor, you selected the Code Your Own template to add your own HTML.

I think I'm understanding what you want: You'd like to paste in your HTML and have it be structured with the right indentations and formatting instead of a big paragraph of code. Is that right?

Yes - that is right!

I found that the drag and drop editor, in the Text boxes, seems to add different types of tags, such as P and DIV and BR, but with no logic to the process. As a result my formatting was quite messed up, and I wanted to fix this with the CODE link where I can edit the HTML directly.

Another option is a side-by-side editor where I can make changes in the HTML side and see it reflected in the visual display side.

This is the first time I am using Emma myself to edit the Campaigns. Up to now I have had other staff who did this, but I have decided to take this over myself since they are all too busy to prepared and send out the emails.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi again! I spoke with our Product Team, and this seems like a two-part request: one for better handling of drag & drop editor-generated HTML based on your actions on the WYSIWYG side, and one for better formatting of user-generated HTML in the Code Your Own template.

We're considering both because we definitely want to do a better job of handling code, and we know this makes your HTML process tricky. I'm so glad you've shared your experience! It's helpful to learn more about how you're using your code with the editor. I'll let you know when there's news on this work.
