colored background and white text not showing up on some e-mails

I chose a dark blue background and white type for my test campaign. It shows up fine on my phone and Yahoo e-mail, however the background and type does not show up on my AOL mail, it just looks empty. A friend had all but 2 sentences show up on her phone. I guess I will have to change it to white background and dark text, unless somebody has a suggestion. Thanks!

Hi there,

I've not been able to find anything conclusive regarding AOL mail supporting background color attributes, so I'd like to do some testing with the mailing. Please let me know the name of the mailing in question, and I'll be happy to do some testing. Please also indicate if you were using a background color on the template, or the individual content blocks.

Thanks so much!

Hello Benton, thanks for your reply. The mailing is called "2015 Christmas Ask". It is unsent. I went ahead and changed background to white and text to blue and sent it out to our recipients as a copy of original.  So, there is no hurry to understand this. But, I would like to for future mailings, as a colored background looks so much better. You can test my mailing. It is the background that is colored, not the individual content blocks.  I had three of my test people tell me that some white text did not show up at all (different e-mail carriers, different areas did not show up). Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the additional information! I did some testing, and found that AOL mail doesn't respect background color attributes in any testing circumstances, so you did well to send it out with no background color and darker text.

I did find that gallery templates that have a hard-coded background graphic or color don't seem to have any problems displaying in AOL mail, so you may want to consider testing with some of the other gallery templates. You may also want to look into having a custom template made with the background color hard coded in a similar fashion if you prefer that aesthetic. You'd just want to contact Young Life headquarters if you're interested in going that route.

Thanks so much, and I hope this information helps!

Thank you, I appreciate your looking into this and the information that you've given!
Morning! I just had this same problem but with gmail. Does that mean that we can't use any of the pretty darker color background templates if we want people to read the emails?

Thanks!
Heather
