I work out of a country called Qatar, and the odd abbreviation for this on the myemma emails is QA. We don't use "QA" as an abbreviation for Qatar so it seems a bit odd to have it there.

There could easily be other abbreviations that don't make sense for particular country as well. I would much prefer to see the full country name, or to give the user the option to use either the country name or the abbreviation of their choice.

Thanks for listening!

Thanks for your feedback, Doha. The abbreviations we display in the editor (and on your emails) is the two-digit code as provided by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Besides having a really official-sounding name, they have a database of two-letter abbreviations under its standard ISO 3166 that we leverage for this purpose.

While we use this list for all countries, we're going to research how difficult it would be to display "Qatar" instead of "QA". This isn't a suggestion we've heard before, so we'll see how involved it is to make sure your address is accurately represented in your mailings.

I did a quick review of our "Sender Info" tab for possible usability tweaks and will take your suggestion for providing our users the option to display the full country name or abbreviation into consideration. With that said, this work is not currently planned. We'll be sure to update this Idea if that status changes.

Hi David -

Thanks for the detailed response. I had no idea there was an official list of abbreviations.

For me it seems odd to use an abbreviation unless it is commonplace - e.g. USA or US for the United States, UAE for United Arab Emirates and maybe SA for South Africa - but I had never noticed it until receiving my own message.

In any case, thanks for the update!

Hi Roxanne,
As of this morning, you now have the option under 'Sender info' in your account settings to choose whether you'd like to display your country's abbreviation OR the full name. It will default to display the abbreviation, but just switch that toggle to 'off' and you'll be all set!

Here's a look at the toggle in 'Sender info':

I hope this helps, Roxanne. Please let us know if you have any questions or other suggestions. Have a great day!

Cheers,
Kelli
