Custom HTML vs. templates, which is best for click through rates and efficency?

Which format yields the better click through rate and is more efficient? I am debating whether to custom html code a blast page or use one of the standard templates with our custom imagery applied. The email blast is a pretty standard format of product information with a click to email address and main web site for a real estate community. What is the general consensus on that and is there a standard practice and specification page so I can set things up in the best formatting without trial and error inefficiencies?

Templates; it was our #1 reason for choosing Emma. Custom coding is great when you need a very specific design, but it's very time consuming, especially when you have to troubleshoot and go over your code on your own, which we all know can take hours at times, if not days, depending on how detailed your code is.

When I want to get super detailed with a template, I use the blank template without header.
