Do customers have to confirm their email in order to be added to your list?

Hi there!

Thanks for a great question.

A customer does not need to confirm their email in order to be added to your list.  The "double opt-in" is a means to ensure folks that sign up to your list really do want to hear from you, and can be used as a way to differentiate potential spam signups.  It's by no means a necessity prior to sending.

The reason you're seeing such a low click-through rate is because the [% optin_confirm_url %] is not a trackable URL.  This is because that URL is going to be personalized for each recipient with their unique member ID and email address and it's not redirected through our servers to track.

I ran a segment for contacts in your "where field Confirmed opted in is not empty" and found 1000 contacts.  This will be a more accurate depiction of folks that have confirmed opt-in than the click count on the confirmation emails for the reason I've pointed out above.
