I'm new to Emma, so I apologize for the novice question.  When exporting contacts I find a field called "last_modified_at".  I'm looking for a list of which actions effect modified date.  For example, is sending an email to a contact considered a modification?  Or is it focused more on actions the contact takes (opens? clicks?).  Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi there and welcome to Emma!

This is a great question and I'd be happy to offer some insight. That last modified field you're seeing there is going to account for any change to any of the contact's field data or a change to their status (active, error, opt-out). It won't be updated based on them receiving, opening, or clicking in your campaigns. It also does not update if you move a contact from group to group, so in general it's best to look at that timestamp and only consider it as an indicator of when some of the contact's field data has been updated.

Since you mentioned being new to Emma, I wanted to make sure you checked out our Welcome page which has some quick links to help get you up and running and answer some questions along the way. I highly recommend taking a look at Emma 101, our regular webinar series that walks through the ins-and-outs of your account. We also have some videos there that are definitely worth a watch.

If there is anything else that I can help with, don't hesitate to send over a reply!
