Does a contact need to finish one automation before he can start another?

Does a contact need to finish one automation before he can start another? I've set up automation two to trigger when a contact field changes. Contact is still in automation one but I've updated his contact field so that he'll go into automation 2 - but so far, nothing has happened. Thoughts?

Yes, a contact can definitely be in multiple automations as once. I can certainly hop into your account and take a look if you'd like. Can I have the automation name, and the contact?
