Editor keeps adding empty tags

The editor keeps adding empty <p></p> tags at the start and end of text areas. This is very frustrating as they need to be removed despite costing time and resources.

A: Why do these keep appearing?
B: Can this be stopped in any way, changing the area from a text block to HTML for example?

I really need to have an editor that doesn't make arbitrary decisions about what content should be in an email and changing our work for no apparent reason.

Also interesting - the subject line of this message changed removing "<p>" from the title.

Hello!

Can you tell me more about your process? Are you copying and pasting from elsewhere? Are you pasting into the code view? Thanks.

Repeating below:
Whenever text is pasted in, even if it's from a plain text editor, then when the HTML source of the block is viewed there are the empty tags at the start and end of the code. I'd certainly consider this a bug.

Typically text is pasted into code view and tags added. Once out of code view all looks fine. At a later time or day, upon revision, spacing tends to be "off" in the WYSIWYG editor, a look into code view shows that an empty <p> </p> tag has been added to the ends of the code. I've also found that random colours in inline styles are changed from hex values to rgb.

I have tried to provoke and replicate the error but can't seem to "force" it.

Hello!

It looks like the empty paragraph tag may be something getting carried over from where you are pasting the text from. We took a sample of text from one of your mailings that had the extra <p></p> tags and pasted it into editpad to strip away all the styling from the text. When we pasted it into a text block the extra tags were gone. We'd recommend running any copied text through editpad.org (or any other plaintext editor) before pasting it into Emma to avoid bringing any unwanted spaces into your mailing content.

I already stated a plain text editor (text wrangler) is used and it still inserts the empty tags at the start and end no matter where the text is pasted or where it's pasted from. Even in-browser copy/pasting in a paragraph adds the tags in completely unrelated areas.
After more testing in various browsers I've recorded the screen to show this happening and added it to dropbox.
