Emails are received but not opened

In an attempt to remove dead emails from my contacts, I created a segment of people who have never opened an email between Oct 2013 and Sept 2017.

Some of the contacts have received around 70 emails, but as I requested, never opened one. Can I assume those contacts with a high number of received but never opened should be removed?

Using Chrome 62.0.3202.62

Hello!

This is correct, receiving and opening are two separate metrics that we track.

Best practice here is to reduce and segment based on non-openers (since receiving doesn't require any interaction) so it sounds like you are on the right track!

Received doesn't have any bearing on opens when segmenting opens only so I would say you are good to archive these contacts.
