Emails not showing correctly in Outlook

We keep noticing that when we send out emails formatted correctly in Emma, they show up correctly in Gmail and other email providers, but not in Outlook. On Outlook buttons become larger, the pill shape or rounded edges disappear, different stylistic features disappear, etc. Is there a way to fix this and make sure the email shows as designed?

For example:

This is what the bottom of the email looks like in Gmail (correct):

This it what it looks like in Outlook (incorrect):

Obviously the one appearing in Gmail is much more appealing (and what we saw in Emma). Any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi there!

This is a pretty common theme with Outlook!  Outlook has some issues properly rendering the HTML code in emails and is very unpredictable.  It is tricky to pinpoint what causes Outlook to render an email the way it does.  The less code Outlook has to render may reduce any troubles you are seeing so less formatting on your text, less colors, images, etc may help but you would not want to compromise your design for other contacts using other email clients to view your campaigns.  Outlook doesn't support the rounded corners of buttons.  Take a look at this resource where we discuss the troubles that Outlook has when it comes to rendering HTML.  Also, check out this resource from Litmus for more information regarding Outlook and rendering differences.

I understand how frustrating it is that you design a great looking campaign and it does not render as expected in Outlook!  Feel free to reach out with any questions or if there is anything else I can do to help!
