We would like to use emojis in our subject lines from time to time. I am currently having a problem where the emoji is not showing up in gmail in the preview pane on desktop. Once I open the test, the emoji shows up. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi there!

Thanks for a great question here, I'd be happy to shed a little light on what's happening here.

Although emojis are generally supported in the email environment, factors such as your mail client and your browser/device can impinge on how they are rendered.  In this case I made a support copy, sent myself a test and I experienced the same thing using Gmail in Chrome on my computer.  However on my mobile device it displayed without opening in Gmail, and using Safari it also displayed prior to opening.

The difference a lot of the time is the language installed on the browser or device.  I'd recommend taking a look at this article here with will give you a little more depth on the topic!  There is also a community post that covers this topic too, you can find that here.

I hope that helps, please let me know if have any further questions
