Can you explain the opt out process in Emma?

Can you  clarify the opt out feature in emma? If a person opts out of any mailing list in emma for any campaign, will that 'opt them out' of all future emails from Emma regardless of a different campaign. We are a university and when we send to students, there are some emails re. grades/classes that we do NOT want them to be 'opted out of' even though they may have opted out of a more 'marketing' email. So, my question...is the opt out a global 'all or nothing' feature in emma? And if it is that drastic, is there a way to divide the campaign so that only a campaign is opted out instead of everything?

Hey there!

Your understanding of opt outs is correct - when they opt out from one email, it opts them out from receiving all emails from your account. As a workaround, you can encourage your recipients to manage preferences instead, and here is an article with more info.

I also wanted to point you to two more resources. This one has more info on opt outs in general, but there is a section with more about managing preferences as well. It is toward the end of the article and the header is "If your efforts are already underway...and you want your contacts to choose what types of email campaigns they receive from you." This article includes info on how to opt people back in.
