Can I select another image when posting to Facebook?

Is there a way to select another image when autoposting an email to Facebook?  The default image size that is selected when I do this is really not compatible with the actual post that is created for Facebook and looks really bad, it gets cropped to the point having the image is useless.  Please advise.  Thanks.

Hey there! The image thumbnail when you autopost to Facebook is the same thumbnail which appears when looking on the response page for a particular campaign in your Emma account and there currently is not a way to edit the thumbnail image.

You could pull the online version link of a campaign from your response page and then post this directly to your Facebook wall. These links can be quite long, so you may want to use a url shortener such as bit.ly or tinyurl. This way you could then select your desired image for your Facebook wall.

Hopefully this helps, but please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks I suspected that to be the case.  The big issue is that Facebook has very specific requirements when posting images and "boosting" them with paid impressions.   If there is over 20% of the image covered with text, they will not allow the post to be advertised.   I have done the manual post from the online version but obviously that defeats the benefit of having an automatic post.   I would strongly suggest that you add the feature to be able to pic a specific image so it is in line with current Facebook advertising requirements for imaging.

Hi there. My name is Pete and I lead the development team that focuses on social media here at Emma. Getting images and links to post the way you want to Facebook is definitely important and an area we know we can improve upon. There are two issues I should mention though.

1. This feature doesn't work consistently even on Facebook. I just tried this with 4 links and 3 of them gave me just one image or some default image even though there were multiple on the page. I don’t know why this is. If you debug links with the Facebook Object Debugger, it says things like “Provided image is not large enough, must be at least 200x200 px” but the image is actually larger than that. I’ve found Facebook to be really inconsistent with what Facebook likes.

2. This work is not trivial to build. It would probably be several weeks (maybe months) worth of work to build this. If we made this a priority, it might consume us for a month to build, and then another month addressing any lingering issues from it. And even then it still might not work since Facebook's API is so difficult to work with.

This is definitely a good idea and it is actually on our backlog of things to do, but in the near term, we're looking to build out different social features so I don't think we'll be fixing this in the immediate future.
