Group Vs. Audience

I imported a list of email address and added them to group for a very specific email. These email addresses will not need to receive other emails from our organization. Usually when I send e blasts, such as our monthly newsletter, I send them to all groups. I deleted the group for the said email list, but these emails remain in the audience. When I send eblasts to all groups in the future, will these email address be excluded since they are no longer in a group? Or, does all groups default to the entire audience?

Hi Abby!  

That's a really good question!  

In the Review and Send screen, when selecting your recipients, if you choose "All Contacts in all Groups" it ONLY selects contacts that are in your groups, not any others.  

Those contacts that aren't assigned to any group are called "LIMBO" contacts.  If you need to find those contacts, you can run a segment in your account to look for those folks.  Katie has some instructions on doing that here:
