How can I use a dynamic tag (member record field) value in the From or Reply To fields for an Automated Email?

We have several Workflows set up which send personalized emails based on data sourced from our CRM and sent to MyEmma via the API. These emails are sent on behalf of Sales Representatives at our client's New Home Communities, and the From/Reply To MUST reflect the individual Sales Reps, not just the default address configured for the account.

We need to be able to specify the FROM, or, at a minimum, the REPLY TO for these emails based on the member record in MyEmma. Currently, all attempts to use a dynamic tag such as would be used within the body of an email (eg: [% member:sales-rep-email %]) are not accepted by the form where the Subject Line, From Name and From Address are set.

Is there any way to accomplish this?

Hi Matt!

Greg with Emma Support here!

You're correct that the From and Reply to email addresses cannot use personalization tags.

An alternate option would be to create a group for each Sales Rep, and then create separate automated workflows tied to each Rep's group (so the workflow would only trigger for contacts in that Rep's group). You could then change the From email address for emails in that workflow to match that Rep's email address. You'd also need to modify your code so contacts brought in through the API are placed in the appropriate Rep's group.

If you're already tracking a contact's Sales Rep via a contact field in Emma, you could also use segments to a similar effect. First create a segment for each Sales Rep, and then create separate workflows that trigger only for a particular Sales Rep's segment.
