How do I create a weekly newsletter?

How do you set up a weekly newsletter to a selected audience? We have an opportunity to do this for the first time. Is there any automation once we have the first weekly email designed and sent? We're looking to save time by sending the same branded email each time with a different PDF newsletter attachment (using a call to action button in the email).

Also, can we set up a separate "Opt Out" option that says "Opt out of receiving this newsletter only" vs. our current general "Opt Out"? We want the prospect to receive other marketing emails we send in the future.

Hey there!

I don't think automation will be applicable in this case, since you'll be sending a weekly newsletter and you'll want new members to start with the most recent one.

Here is a possible strategy (with detailed steps) for setting up your weekly newsletter:

First, set up a group:
- In Audience, create a new group which you'll use for sending this newsletter. Name it something like Weekly Newsletter.
- In this group, add any members you intend on sending the weekly newsletter.

Next, set up a signup form:
- Scroll to the bottom of the Audience section and choose the Classic Forms tab under Your Signup Forms.
- Create a new signup form. Once again, name it Weekly Newsletter for easy reference.
- Choose the option to Add/remove Groups. Here, check the box to both Add and Display your Weekly Newsletter group.

Finally, set up your newsletter using the editor:
- Create a new mailing in Campaigns and set it up as you like.
- In the mailing, include a call-to-action (text, button, image, etc) encouraging members to update their preferences. You'll link them using this in place of a URL: [% manage_url %]. When you send your email, this tag will be replaced with a link to manage preferences, unique to each recipient.
- When you're ready to send / schedule the mailing, click the button to Review and Send.
- In the Review and Send screen, pick your Weekly Newsletter group.
- Towards the left side of the page, set the signup form to Weekly Newsletter.
- Fill out the subject line and other fields and then send / schedule.

If a recipient clicks the link to manage preferences, it will take them to the Weekly Newsletter signup form but it will already be filled out with their information. They can choose to uncheck the Weekly Newsletter option, which will remove them from the group.

Every week, you can copy the previous week's mailing, update the PDF link, and send or schedule it out to your Weekly Newsletter group.

You can tweak this as it fits to your marketing goals but that's the basic idea. Let me know if you have further questions!

Andrew,
We completed the steps you recommended above, but we have a few more in-depth questions that we would like to discuss. Would we be able to set up a call with a MyEmma consultant?  Thank you!
