You can do this in Emma using our "Exclude an audience segment" option when sending your mailing.

To do this, you'll first want to upload the list of contacts you wish to exclude into a new group.

You'll then create a segment containing that group of contacts.

Then, when you're ready to send, you can exclude that segment at the Review & Send screen.

Keep in mind that you can exclude any one segment you've created, so a suppression list is just the tip of the iceberg.

You could, for example, create a segment of everyone that opened a mailing in the last 6 months, and then exclude it when sending out a re-engagement mailing.

Check out the following link to our Resource Center for more info on creating segments.

That is what I do as well. I import a "do not email" list. Then create a segment for my email that is "in" my General Interest list (or whichever your main audience is in) and "not in" the "do not email" list and rename it something relevant. Keep in mind that this is a segment that is created. If you want to make an Audience Group out of it, just export the segment, import and rename it as your main email list.
