I've set up a new signup form, new group, and an automation trigger to add a new subscriber to the new group, then send them an email with a link to download a file.

It works perfectly with brand new subscribers, however if someone who is already in the audience uses the form they get the confirmation screen but no confirmation email and no triggered email with the download link (even though they are being added to the new group which is specified in the trigger).

The complexities behind the scenes are staggering I'm sure.

How would you recommend setting up something where I can collect email addresses for my mailing list and send a download link in return, given that current subscribers may also want the downloads?

Thanks for your help!

This release went out today! One thing to note: with this update, contacts will receive your automated email every time they submit the form. This shouldn't be an issue for most contacts, since people tend to only sign up for things once, but it's worth keeping in mind. In the future, we'll be updating our workflows so that users have greater control over how often their contacts should be able to receive triggered emails (i.e. only once, every time something happens, only if they're not already in your audience, etc.).
