Hi, Brian, PBS Hawaii. We have a former subscriber who wants back in. I've attempted to delete her email and re-add her, but the UI will not let edit and add her in as a willing recipient.

Hi Brian,

Deleting a contact and re-adding them into the account won't work as Emma remembers those that have opted out previously.  This is to avoid folks deliberately or accidentally resending to folks that have opted out of a mailing list.  That being said we do have a few options to opt a former subscriber back in and I'll outline them below:

- You can send them a link to your signup form which you can find when you select "Add this to my site" next to your signup form.  This way they'll just need to re-add their email and follow the confirmation link sent to their inbox.

- If they have a previous mailing in their inbox still, they can click on the "manage my preferences" link at the bottom.  This will allow them to opt themselves back in by following the prompts, again, they'll receive an email asking for their confirmation.

I hope that sheds some light on this one Brian, please let me know if you have any additional questions -- I'd be happy to help!

I've been having issues with this same thing a lot lately.  People that were upset that they weren't receiving their emails and there is no easy way to get them back in.  Especially since our organization is built around impeccable customer service, I think there is a way that I should be able to do this for them without them having to jump through a bunch of confusing hoops.  They're obviously not great at technology or they wouldn't have accidentally done it in the first place.  Just some feedback for you there Emma.

Hi Sam, I have the same question - but this is a member of our Executive Committee who accidentally opted out and asked me to add him back in. Is there a way to do this for him?

Hey there.  You can use the same method described above, or, if you have an email FROM THE OPTED OUT ADDRESS specifically requesting to be opted in, you can forward that to support@myemma.com along with your account information and we can get them opted back in.

Because of the legality involved in email opt-outs, it does create the necessity for extra steps for opting folks back in.
