How do I add an attachment to a mailing?

I would like to add a release form to my mailing, how do I add an attachment? thanks!

Hi! There isn't a way to include attachments with your campaigns because so many servers block emails with attachment on entry. Instead, we have a document library feature that allows you to hold your files on our server and create links to them.

How to link to a document from your email:
  1. From your main Campaigns page, look for the Documents button near the top of the screen. Click that, and your document library will open. Browse to find the file on your computer or network, and upload it. Your file will appear in the library's menu.
  2. While editing your email campaign, highlight the text (such as "click here to download our release form") to be linked. Now click the toolbar's link icon and choose to link to a document. Select your document from the list. When a recipient clicks the linked text, it will take him or her to your document.
  3. Send yourself a test mailing to double-check the link from your inbox.
And that's it!

Hi Katie,
I've followed the steps  to link a document, but when I send the test mailing, it doesn't link.  Any suggestions?

Hey there! I see a couple mailings with yesterday’s timestamp. Would you mind letting me know in which mailing you’re working and which text you linked? It would also help to know the name of the document you linked to.

Hi Katie,
They are all the same mailing - I kept going back in to see what I could do.  There should be 2 links - the 1st one should be Area Director forms & the other is NE District Board.

Thanks for those details! I jumped in the mailing called "News from the Northeast - March 26, 2014" and noticed that while the text appeared linked, when I clicked to edit each link, there wasn’t a document selected in either place.

I highlighted each place you wanted linked and selected the document to link to, then sent myself a test. The mailing came through with those links intact.

Would you like to give it a go on your end?

Hi Katie,

I just sent my self a test & when I click on each link, it momentarily starts to go to something, but then just ends up blank.  its exactly what was happening when I did it yesterday.

It sounds like your email program or server is blocking the attachments from opening. Are you able to try using a different email address or computer to send a test to or check in with your IT contact to see if there’s a setting that can be tweaked?

I can try both a different e-mail address & a different computer.  Not sure what you mean by an IT contact.  We are a non-profit & I am the VP of Marketing & Communications  (ok - don't laugh).  I will try both options & let you know.  Thanks.

No worries! I just meant have someone local there — and maybe that’s you — take a look at your email or internet’s settings for handling popups. The experience for me is I click on the link from my inbox, a new tab opens in my browser and a popup appears asking if I want to save or open the attachment. I’m sure that’s a setting somewhere, but I wouldn’t know where to point you to find it. :)

OK - so I went to my laptop & sent mailings to both of my addesses (gmail & aol).  Both times, the link went to downloads.  It seems to be doing that on my desktop, too.  Is there a way to link the document so that it opens up right away, w/o going to download?  People who get these blasts are not necessarily savvy enough to figure out what they have to do.  And by the way, I didn't get a popup to ask if I wanted to save or open.  That would be great.  
I have to run out for a while.  Will pop back in in an hour or so.  Thanks for your help in the meantime.

Hi Viv! I’m sorry, I’m not sure how to change that setting. Our IT Team here set up my computer and I suppose included that setting. You might try searching your email program’s help guide to change how downloads are handled.
