Can I create an anchor link using an image?

How do I link an anchor in my email to an image (instead of text)? I want someone to click on an image on the top and it will jump down to that section in the newsletter. Thanks!

Hi James Place -- There isn't currently a way to link an anchor to an image in your mailing. I'm going to set this conversation to an Idea and run this request by our Product Team to see if they have any work planned around this feature. I'll update the status when I know more!

Hey @James Place Marketing,

So anchors. This one is fairly easy to accomplish. Since we cannot wrap an image in custom HTML I suggest a little "trickery" to get this one to happen. Create a text block just preceding the image. You can use the WYSIWYG editor, but I recommend to switch over to the HTML view "</>". Then place this bit of code into the HTML editor, where "anchorName" is the value of the anchor URL you gave in the link preceding at the top.

<a name="anchorName ">&nbsp;</a>

This will add the anchor into the email, but should take up little to no space. You could do the same with an HTML block, but just depends on your familiarity with that tool. Of course, this suggestion is untested across all email clients so YMMV.

Hope that helps, and good luck!

Hi James Place -- This feature isn't in our current product roadmap, but may be something we can build into the editor down the road! Let us know if Kyle's workaround does the trick for you. :)

Hi Emily. Has there been any update here? It seems like a very basic feature to add. Not sure why anchor links have been left off the roadmap. It's a common feature for many other email marketing platforms.

Hey there, I responded to your other post, but I wanted to pop over here and copy the same so it can be uniform:

As far as I know, it's not on the road map any time soon, and would likely be considered as part of any larger overhaul of the editor that comes.  Anchors are a bit of a touchy subject as there are certain environments that they simply don't work in certain email platforms, including most mobile email software. So it becomes hard to even really recommend their use, especially as mobile opens have been surpassing desktop opens in current years.

That being said, certainly the more requests we get, the more of a priority it becomes for us!
