Imported contacts aren't receiving automated emails

Hi Katie. So, my automated workflow triggered by someone signing up for our email list works great. Unfortunately, people who are imported are not receiving our automated emails. I wonder if you or someone else at Emma can help me figure out why that's the case. Here are a couple of screenshots. When I import a big list of contacts, I include a "Date" field populated with that day's date. It doesn't seem to be triggering the automated email series, however. Help.

Greg with Emma Support here!

I can definitely explain why your automated mailing is not sending!

With the date-based triggers, our system checks the data in the early morning hours (in some cases, before midnight) to see if it should send the mailing that day. If you upload your info during the day, the system won't check again until early morning of the next day.

For example:

Early this morning, the system checked to see if date-based automation should send.
This afternoon, you upload your contact data containing today's date (July 27th, 2015).
Early tomorrow morning, the system checks for tomorrow's date (July 28th, 2015).
Since your contact data has the date of July 27th, 2015, the date does not match and the automated mailing does not send.

To avoid this, I suggest importing your contact data at leastthe day before you'd like the automation to trigger.

So, if you want the mailing to send tomorrow, import your contact info by today (preferably early in the day, so you don't cut things too close).

This link to our Resource Center gives more information on date-based triggers and what options you have when using them.

If you have any questions, let me know and I'll be glad to help.
