Importing contacts, numbers don't add up

I've made an import from an Excel file with 170+ contacts, and the result from Emma shows 56 added, and 6 duplicates... but I'm curious what is the deal with the other 100+ contacts?! 

I'm using Chrome version 43.x on a Windows 7 OS.

Hi there -- Is it possible that the other contacts in your import file were already in the account? If so, they would have been added to the group as a result of the import but wouldn't be reflected in the "contacts added" column of your import statistics because they were added to the account at an earlier date. Importing using the "add only" method, as you did here, will add all the addresses on your spreadsheet to the designated group but doesn't update the associated data for addresses already in the account. If you had used "add and update" you would likely see those contacts reflected in the "contacts updated" column there on the imports page. 

Let me know if you feel like this isn't the case here!

Thanks for the quick reply Emily. I did in fact use the "add only" method, and there may have been contacts already in the account.

However, I just imported another file and used the "add and update" method, and things still don't add up to the total count of contacts in the import.

A curious situation...thanks for your support.

You bet! Those existing contacts will only be reflected in the "contacts updated" if there was new information in the file to be added to their records. If they're being added to the import group successfully, then everything is working as expected!

Hi -- this happens to me regularly. Right now I'm importing 5,864 contacts (# in my Excel doc) and only 5,766 are showing up (total of active, opt out, error). I've tried to import twice. It also regularly occurs with the Emma Connected App via Salesforce.
