I am attempting to do a little audience cleanup of email addresses that I know are no longer current and reduce our number of contacts.  Last week I was deleting them but now it appears the delete button is gone.  Is Archive now the same as delete?  Thank you!

Hi there! In the new interface, the archive option would be the same as delete for your audience. When you archive a contact, that moves them to your "Archived Items" section in your account settings. That works similar to the recycle bin or trash can on your computer. You can use that either restore a contact or you can delete them all together.

I hope that helps!

Cheers!

Hey there!

As far as the API is concerned, this actually works a bit differently.

The DELETE call does not move the contacts to the "archive" folder, it will completely delete the contact and their response history.

There is not an API call to "archive" a contact.

If you have contacts that are already in the "archive" folder, an "Add" call should bring them back out of the archive and into the audience.

Let me know if you have any additional questions!

I've archived several contacts but can't delete them, so they are not active towards my account.  I'm curious why I can not just mass delete them.  Could use some help.

Thanks

Archiving contacts does actually remove them from the Active count.  You don't need to permanently delete them for them to not count toward billing.

That being said, we have had a few folks point out that there is currently not a way to mass-delete from the Archived folder itself. This is an issue that our developers are aware of and are going to be putting in place in a future update.

How do we get a group that we no longer need to not count toward billing?

We bill based on the peak number of Active contacts in the account for the month.  If you archive those contacts, they are no longer considered in your account.

If you have a group of contacts that you no longer need, you will want to open the group and then use the Action button to "Archive All"
