I would like to schedule an e-mail to go out at 6 am. I'd like this to be based on the time zone of the recipient. Is this an option? How would I do this?

Thank you!

Hi Jeanette! When you schedule a mailing to send at 6 a.m., it pulls that time from your account’s time zone. (You can check your time zone by clicking the gears icon at the top-right and choosing Settings & billing.)

If you’re in Central and know that most of your recipients are in Eastern, you could schedule your mailing based on what time it is for them. But there isn’t a way to know which time zone they’re in and send the mailing and the appropriate times.

I hope this helps!

I would like to be able to schedule a mailing that is 7am PST when it is 7:30am EST where I am working, it doesn't seem to work. Thank you.

Hi there! When it's 7:30 a.m. Eastern, it's 4:30 a.m. Pacific. If you want a mailing to send at 7 a.m. Pacific and your account is set to Eastern time, you'll want to schedule the mailing for 10 a.m. Eastern.

It sounds like that isn’t working — Will you help me understand exactly how it isn’t working? Are you getting an error message, or is the mailing sending at the wrong time?

The clients account is set to PST, I am working EST. This morning I tried to schedule a email to go out at 7am for a California Client, because it was 7:30 where I am (EST), it would not send. The setting when I am working in a sub account I thought followed the sub accounts time. Is that so? Thanks

My misunderstanding! I misread your original post. There is a bug with scheduling a mailing for a time zone that’s earlier than the time zone in which you’re working, the setting on your computer.

I’m so sorry for the trouble. More details about this defect can be found here, and please let me know if you have any other questions.

It doesn't seem like this problem has been fixed and this post was 9 Months ago. Can you provide me an update, as this is a continuing problem for me. I work in ET, but my company is on MT so I can't schedule an email which is any earlier than the time when I'm working on my email. This is very inconvenient. Thanks.

Hi PCS -- I'm sorry that there is no recent news to share here. The best workaround for this bug is still to change the clock on your computer. Please follow along here for more details on this bug and to ensure that you are updated when we do resolve this bug!

I'm not sure if the guidance provided above is correct according to what just happened to me. I'm on the east coast but my client is on the west coast, and the account is set to Pacific time. I tried to schedule a blast for 11am PST at 12:30 EST (which is only 9:30 PST) and it told me I had to schedule it for some time in the future. It's not yet 11 PST but it was reading EST I guess (maybe from my computer's clock). But why would it do that if the account is set to PST? In any case, I just scheduled it and I really hope it goes out at the correct time :).

What you experienced is what happens to me, and why I asked the question. I am based in CT (Eastern Time Zone) however my company is in CO (Mountain Time) so our EMMA account is set for MT. I can not schedule an email to be sent for a time that is prior to the time on my computer's clock even though I am trying to do so before the time has actually occurred in CO. So if it's 11 AM in CT, even though it's only 9 AM in CO I can't schedule a mailing to go out at 10:30 MT. It didn't used to happen this way, so I don't understand why EMMA can't program a fix. I will not reset the clock on my PC as a work around, that will mess up other scheduling.

Hey PCS and MDC -- I understand your frustration here and can assure you that we want to find and implement a fix for this. We do our best to prioritize fixes based on our developmental resources, the severity of the issue, and the affect on our customers. We will be sure to update you here and over here when there is progress to report!

I realize that changing your computer timezone setting could have a significant impact on your other work. Have you considered changing the account time zone and delaying or moving your scheduled emails up accordingly to account for the time difference? This could be another workaround option for you.

Thanks for your patience!

Hi Emily -- It seems I can only schedule an email to go out at least after 12 hours when i make a schedule,  so if it's 4am, is there a solution to to schedule a mailing to go out at 9am?

Hey there, if your computer clock and Emma timezone are lined up, you should be able to schedule within the next 12 hours. Do you mind checking your computer clock's timezone? I'll take a look at your account and we can see if they line up, or if something's wrong. Let me know, and I'll take a look!

I send emails to recipients from the East Coast to Hawaii. The problem here is that if I schedule one for 9am ET, California receives it at 6am and Hawaii receives it at 3am. I've had people complain that that is too early. So, if I schedule an email for California to receive it at 10am, I risk sending it at lunch time in the East or later. However, our best opens are in the morning. It would be great if the emails are sent based on recipient's time zones. I know this is difficult to do, but if there were a customer field for time zone, would it be possible to time the send based on that value?

Sorry this slipped through the cracks! This sounds like a feature request, so we'll discuss it in a new conversation.

I'm happy to report that this bug is resolved!

Thanks for hanging in here with us as we worked to fix this issue. You should now be able to schedule your mailings and have the time that is attached to your account be the time that the mailing goes out. The system no longer looks at your computer timezone.
