In my last mailer I noticed the # of clicks were high for all buttons / links. Looking at the report I see the same person is noted as clicking multiple buttons (including all the social media icons). I know this isn't accurate. When they open the email, are all buttons / links being automatically clicked - not by the person, but by their email system?

Hi Lorie,

You're exactly right! Usually when we see that type of behavior it is due to the recipient's firewall or security settings on their network. Sometimes receiving servers will go out and "check" links before they actually deliver the emails, and those clicks register with Emma as well. Servers do this because sometimes spammers will redirect links to bad sites, and the servers want to check that the site isn't a bad one. This usually happens in cases where the link has red flag words in it or redirects to a "free" site.

A good troubleshooting step to test for this is to see if all the time stamps are the same. This is most likely to show up when mailing to domains with high levels of security - such as .gov, .edu or .mil.

I hope this helps, let us know if you have any other questions!

Yes, time stamps are all the same! I sorted by user name and it becomes more obvious that all links were clicked at certain user companies. Thank you for confirming!

Oh great! Of course, not a problem!
