Need for multiple email address per contact

  • Under Consideration
Hi,

I have seen this issue written about multiple times on the forum, but going through all the answers from Emma reps, it seems this isn't possible. I called up Emma support who said to add my suggestion for this to this forum, as Emma would take it into consideration.

We also have a need for multiple email addresses within on contact record. We send emails to two or more people in a household.  While they are all on our list, we'd want them all on one email.  (Just to note- we already have lists that use multiple names per each single email address so for example, John and Mary each have their own email address. We already write to John and have their name set as 'John & Mary' and for Mary's email address we already have 'Mary & John'.)

What we'd like to do is to be able to include two (or more) email addresses for one contact. That way. both email addresses could see in one email that they received it. It isn't any different than sending an email in a normal email client like Outlook or Gmail. If I wanted to send an email, but have someone else know I was sending it, I'd cc them, or include them in the 'to' field. Why can't this be done in bulk email?

And, just thinking this through, if you did allow this multiple email addresses per one contact feature in your contact forms, you would have to do something clever in the analytics to be able to still track the email opens separately.

I'd highly recommend this be a feature added in Emma.

Many thanks for the consideration,

Jessica @ 15-40 Connection

This is a big need for one of our subaccounts, but it's triggered via transactional email on the B2B side.

You can make it happen via API, which is the only way we've been able to do this. We looked into more email services than I care to remember and the availability simply isn't there for it, outside of development/API.

Surely if it's a big need (which I've seen others talk about it on here as well so seems to be...) Emma and the other email providers can make it happen and make it a function available within the tool...

Hello!

The way the system is set up currently, the email is the unique identifier and can only be aligned to one contact (unless you stack names in a first name field ala "Jack & Diane"). I will put in this feature request for you. It would require a pretty big rebuild, and I am not sure how it would work with the Can-Spam laws (one person opts out...the other wants to still be on the list...), but I am sure that it could be figured out.

I have submitted this for you today.

Hi Laura,  Thanks! Yes, I understand it would take development hours to figure out and some clever working to get the open rates to show up as individuals, but I think it's worth it, especially after seeing all the requests for this feature. We do the stacking as you call it with two names in the name field already. Many thanks,  Jessica
