Problem with Date Field in Email

I imported contacts and included a date that I wanted assocated with each contact. the date was formatted as 4/3/2017
In the campaign email i used personalization to insert this date but the format included the time and since there was no time in my filed it was all zeros. ( 2017-04-03 00:00:00)
Why did it include the time when that wasn't in my data and how do i prevent this from happening again?

Hi there,

The reason the date showed up that way is because you chose "Short Answer" and I suspect the format for the date may have been oddly formatted (it is an Excel thing) in the upload. If you change the field to "Date picker" then it should only personalize to the date. Give that a try and let me know if you have questions!
