I have received notifications that 5 people have joined my emails. However, when I look at them in my email list, only 2 are new and 3 are old contacts. I'm confused. Do I also receive these same notifications when someone changes their preferences in addition to new signups?

Greg with Emma Support here!

If you have notifications enabled for a signup form, you'll be notified any time someone signs up using that form, even an existing contact.

While signup forms can be used to add new contacts, they can also be used for other things (like registering for an event or signing up for a coupon). Because of this, we don't limit signups to new contacts only.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Then, is there a way to separate out the new signups from existing signups?

Hi Cynthia!

When you're viewing a group in Emma, you can click on "Contact since" to sort contacts by their Contact since date (newest to oldest, or oldest to newest).

You can also use segments to search for contacts by their Contact since date (for example, you could look for everyone with a Contact since date within the last 30 days that are also in Group A).

How would I separate out those that changed their preferences?

Hi Cynthia!

You can also segment contacts based on if they have managed their preferences, using the Signup/manage prefs history option when building a segment.

This link to our Resource Center goes over more options for using segments to search within your audience.
