In the recent weeks, we’ve significantly increased our effort to improve the performance of Emma, and our product teams are continuing to focus on making your experience in the app as fast and responsive as possible. We’re also trying to be as transparent as possible in communicating the steps we’re taking to make it happen.

On Friday, September 18th we released some additional work related to improving the overall performance of Emma:
  • Upgrading jQuery
  • Refactoring within the editor
  • Upgrading some of the code that helps us measure performance

On Monday, September 21st we released some changes to how our proofing process works. We received feedback from customers that the auto-saving process was “constantly running” and “always saving.” This process is intended to be out of the way and behind the scenes, but with each save, we were also proofing the content of your email to check for things like the validity of your links, whether or not you have personalization defaults, your overall spam score and overall mailings size.

After confirming that the proofer was contributing to the auto-save performance issues, we decoupled the two processes and are now only checking for proofing issues when you click to “send test” or “review & send”. We’ve seen considerable performance gains in terms of overall CPU usage which is hopefully contributing to a better overall editing experience.

On Thursday, September 24th we released additional refactoring and added back the ability to send notification emails while scheduling a mailing.
