Request: Not Within the Last

I'd like to see audience segmentation when a date is "not within" a certain number of days.  For those of us who document particular milestones I think it would be great to be able to e-mail the people who did not hit that milestone within the period of time (obviously the folks we need to be motivating).  So, for me, for example, I have a column of dates of the last time we had a 1:1 meeting with the particular client.  I'd like to create an e-mail automation that targets those specific people in an attempt to schedule our next meeting.  Thanks for considering!

Hi Andrew.

Thanks for writing in.  We are always looking for ways we can improve our product so I'll definitely pass that one on to our dev team.

If I understand you correctly, you're looking for a way to segment your audience to find those that have that data field not within the last x amount of time.  The use being that you can have a moving list of those people that you might need to reach out to.

I know that negative segments is something that we are definitely looking to explore further this year as a part of improving some of the logic that's used to run segments.  However, as far as a timeline is concerned I don't really have one at this point for you.

One possible way you could achieve a similar result would be to run an automated workflow that uses a date-based trigger.  You could use the date field that you need and set an email to trigger automatically after x days/weeks has passed after that particular date to schedule the next meeting.  Just an idea!

I'll be sure to pass on your suggestion to our team :)

I would also like to see this feature. "If date is more than X days/weeks" should be simple to implement. The date-based automation is a no-go because it only allows on that date exactly or on the anniversary of that date; there's no option for "after X amount of time" in segments or automation triggers.

Hey there!  I wanted to pass this along in case it might be helpful for you.

With regards to Andrew's question, you could actually achieve this now using our EXCLUSION SEGMENTS.  We've added this option in to the Review & Send screen, and with it you could set up a segment to find the people who DO have dates within that certain range, and EXCLUDE them from the mailing that you were wanting to send out encouraging others.

Aaron, with regard to yours (and a little guessing as to the functionality you need), you can totally use Date-based automation.  Basically you would set up the Date-Based contact field as the trigger, but set Emma to delay the sending of the mailing by however long you'd want to wait.  Like this:

You can even set that up to trigger BEFORE the date in the field.

Perhaps that doesn't help you in this particular case, but I wanted to let you know it's an option!
