Syncing new Emma signups to existing lead/contact records with Emma for Salesforce

I'm considering Salesforce Emma integration and am concerned about how contacts new and existing will be edited automatically due to the integration.

For instance, what if someone fills out a lightbox form, thus creating a lead in SF, but that person pre-existed the lightbox submission in SF as a Contact. Is the lead added to the contacts record? Is the lead converted automatically as an opportunity? What goes down?

Also, from what I understand, if I delete a user from emma, that does not delete anything in SF right?

Good morning,!

Anytime a new member is added to an audience group in Emma that is synced through Emma for Salesforce, the integration checks your Salesforce org for any existing lead or contact records that have that email address in the primary email field. If there's already an existing lead or contact record in your Salesforce org with that primary email address, then a new lead record isn't created -- instead we just sync the existing lead or contact record. The integration will only create a new lead record in Salesforce when a member is added in Emma to a synced group and that email address doesn't already existing in the primary email field on a current lead/contact record in Salesforce.

If you delete a member from your Emma account, you are correct that it doesn't delete them from your Salesforce org. If you delete a member from your Emma audience, it will remove that lead/contact from all Emma Groups in Salesforce, but the lead/contact record itself won't be removed from Salesforce.
