I have an Emma group that I created in Salesforce called "Governing Council 13-14 Salesforce." It is based on a report that we have in salesforce for the Governing Council 13-14. When I tried to hit the "refresh group members" button, it doesn't seem to add or subtract members based on that report. So my first question is what does that button refresh?

I then tried to edit and then reimport the group, it seemed to add new people to the group, but not remove those who are no longer in that group. So that seems to solve the adding of new members, but not the removing of those who have left that group. Is there anyway to make that happen?

Hey Jonathan! I reached out to our integrations team and I’ve learned there are some buttons which are standard Salesforce buttons and aren’t removable from the object types that we used to build our integrations. This being one of them, so there is not a direct functionality of that button with regards to the Emma for Salesforce app. To get new folks from the report added to the group you would want to rerun the report and then rerun the add to group function which will then update that group.

For removing those members you would want to create a new group as opposed to re-syncing the old. It’s in a similar manner as to when doing a regular Excel file import into Emma. If I’m already in the Emma group and you import a new list to that group without me included, it’s not going to remove me from that particular group.

Hopefully this helps, but please let me know if I can assist further.

Hi all!

Wanted to post a quick update here, in case anyone else stumbles across this Emma Community thread. Although Tyler's answer was 100% accurate at the time, we've made some updates to the integration, and that refresh group members button does have a purpose now.

The refresh button within an Emma Group now pulls the refreshed report data in to that group. This can be tricky if you don't remember what report was used to populate the Emma Group originally because we don't record that anywhere within the integration. You may want to consider putting in to practice the process of designating the name of the report used in the name of the Emma Group.

There's still not a persistent link that exists between a group and the report used to originally populate it, so the groups won't automatically refresh to match the updated report data. But just clicking the refresh button within an Emma Group in Salesforce will get things synced right back up!

Yay Emma for Salesforce! :)

Just confirming--will refreshing the group add AND subtract members now, or only add new members?

Great question, Friends General Conference!

Clicking the refresh button within an Emma Group in Salesforce will add any new leads/contacts from the refreshed report to the Emma Group. That refresh group button doesn't remove the folks contained in the group that are no longer in the updated report data though, so if you want an Emma Group of *just* the refreshed report data, you'll want to create a new Emma Group and populate it with the refreshed report data.

Please give me a shout if I can provide any further clarification here!
