Scheduling Tweets isn't working.

  • Not a Problem
Over the past year I've tried scheduling tweets twice. I have correctly scheduled my Tweet to go out when my email is scheduled. Instead both times it went out immediately. Today that could have caused a real problem for me since I was announcing something that's not happening until tomorrow when the email is scheduled. Luckily I went into Twitter to check and was able to delete it just seconds after it appeared.

Last time I was told you tried scheduling from my account, and it worked fine. It's NOT working fine and I see other people have had issues, too, and been told the same thing. It really isn't working correctly for some of us. I won't use the feature again. At least warn people that sometimes it may not go out when scheduled, and they'd better check. I use the most recent version of Chrome and did the first time I tried it, too.

Hi Emilie,

I'm so sorry that you've been having issues with Twitter postings.  Connecting with Social Media has caused a few problems in the past, and are complicated beasts to sort out.

Can you point me to the specific mailing recently you were having issues with?   And also, were you using the social posting options from the Send Confirmation screen (the screen that pops up after the send schedules or completes)?  Or were you scheduling the post from the Response screen after the mailing sent?

We have identified a bug in our system with Facebook posts having issues from the Send Confirmation screen instead of from Response, is the reason I'm asking.

The more information I have about your process, the better we can dig in to find a solution.

I'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Thanks!

It was the post that went out in my account yesterday. And I scheduled it from the Send Confirmation screen for the next day, when the mailing took place. But it went out immediately, just as it did about a year ago when I last tried it. As you pointed out to someone else, the Response screen has an option, too, but unless you're at the computer when the mailing goes out, you won't see that, correct? It's just as easy then to simply announce it on Twitter and Facebook myself once the mailing is out. (And in the same vein, I have not been able to schedule it for my Facebook Page, where I would like to announce it, as opposed to my Profile. But until this is working correctly on Twitter I won't even worry about that.)

Thanks Emilie,

I'm going to pass this info along and see if we can recreate the issue here on our end.  I'll check back in here when I hear back.

Hi Emilie,

Lauren here, stepping in for Grey while he is out of the office. We have not been able to replicate the issue on our end, and this generally points to a local issue. Just as an additional checkpoint, can you please try using a different network or computer when scheduling the tweet for next time? Thanks so much, and please keep us posted!

I appreciate that for some reason this is not working for me and IS for you. However, are you actually trying to "schedule" a post for another day? Or just a few hours later? I use my home Dell Vostro computer, Windows 7 and the latest Chrome when I do my newsletter. I have no reason to try it on another computer or platform since I won't be using it on another platform or computer. Particularly since, as I pointed out already, other people are experiencing the same issues--I've seen this in community posts and I hope you've seen them, too. There's clearly a glitch and not just with my computer/platform etc.

An easier solution for me, other than digging out another computer and loading another browser, is NOT to use your scheduled tweets or FB posts again. They aren't reliable, and I truly hope you will pass that information on to other customers, who may believe the announcement of their new mailing will go out with the mailing, as scheduled, instead of immediately, which it has done for me twice now, many months apart. If you're going to offer social media scheduling, you do need to find the bug. Or at least let people know there is one.

Hi again,

Thank you for sending over the additional information. We really want to dig in and find the root of the problem and the fact that we cannot replicate the issue could be due to the fact that we are not taking the exact steps that you are taking. If you don't mind sending along the exact, step by step process that you are using when scheduling these social posts, it will be extremely helpful in our ability to diagnose the issue and ultimately fix it.

I really appreciate your help with this!
