Hi,

I'd like to segment subscribers with OR criteria. For example, I'd like to have those with last name AAA and those with last name BBB in one segment. Is it possible? The multiple criteria seems to be just layering criteria, thus AND condition, not OR condition.

Hi Katie,
When you're creating this segment based on contact, at the bottom of the window you will see:

Match:  0 all of the above    0 any of the above

The default is "all of the above" and gives the "and" function. If you select "any of the above" the prompt changes to "or".

I hope this helps,
Donna

Hey Katie,

Donna is absolutely right! In order to access that option, be sure to click "add" in between adding searching criteria instead of clicking "done." You'll want to click "done" at the very end, after you've added all of you OR criteria.

Give that a shot and let me know if you need more help!

Hey all - I'm trying to accomplish this "OR" option as noted above. Since layout has been changed, it doesn't look like this is feasible anymore. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance!

Hi Katie,

In order to see the option to choose between "Any" or "All" criteria, you'll first need to add a second criteria to your segment by clicking "Add Another" and then "Add" once you've selected what you're looking for. You'll then see the drop down to choose "Any" or "All". Select "Any" and Emma will look for contacts in criteria 1 or criteria 2.

Here's a quick gif of the process: http://recordit.co/gpMUd0ywnx

With that said, we have a new beta segment builder that I'd be happy to turn on in your account. It's a bit more intuitive for this type of segment, in my opinion:

Thanks,

Agreed! I was trying to segment today by multiple zip codes- for example, I want to segment zip code 60001 or 60002 or 60005, etc. How can I do this?

Hey there, I'll see if I can help. After you've added the criteria for "where field Zip = 60001", click "ADD ANOTHER", add the criteria for "where field Zip = 60002", and then click "ADD". You will now see you the option to match "Any" or "All" of the criteria. Select "Any", which will give you "or" between each zip code. Should look something like this:

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Also, we have a new segment builder in beta. Would you be interested in trying it out? Here's an example of an "or" condition in the new builder:

Thanks!
