Set default font by account and template

Our organize uses the Verdana font exclusively. We would like to see the ability set a default font by account and by template. So, all text additions and edits would be in our preferred font.

Today, all text pastes, copy and pastes within existing texts, and edits change to Helvetica. We then need to <Ctrl A> and select the preferred font in every text block.

Hi Tom! This is a great idea, and it's so cool to hear that you're thinking along the same lines we are for how we'd like the editor to work. Global styling like this is a project we have planned for the long term, while it isn't on our current roadmap for the next 12 months.

I'm marking this as Not Planned, but only because it isn't on our roadmap. We do plan to pursue this down the line, and I'll update you here when that status changes.

I think this would be a very good addition. Even if I accept the default font, I have to go back to each of the items and change the font colors and the size.  If I create a template then there should be a way to standardize the fonts, sizes, etc. for that template.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled CSS Control.

This request is for greater control (and format standardization) by allowing the ability to set CSS control for the blank and perhaps other templates that Emma provides. I love starting with one of those blank templates for my agency clients but the users often become frustrated because they have to keep applying the font, line height, font size, as they edit a text or combo box.

If mucking around with the CSS isn't in the cards, how about just adding an area where there would be a few controls for setting a template's overall default font formatting?

And before you answer, yes, I know that I could use the Template Builder but the blank templates work just fine and give my clients a good feeling of control.

I would also like to weigh in on the request to set global styling by account as well. It would be simpler than having to constantly change it for every text block I create.

I have the same problem, we draft the communication in Word, circulating it to receive feedback. It is time consuming and frustrating to Ctrl+A each time we make a change (i.e. we need to change both the font and the size). Please allow us to define default font and size and use it when we paste.

Emma! Please make this happen ASAP. It is very cumbersome, tiresome even, to have to do this block by block. And if I give a hard or soft return in the right style, it often reverts to Arial. It adds up and is a big time hit. It's costing us enough time that we're considering switching to MailChimp.

Hi CAEP -- I'm circling back with the Product Team to see if this work is in our current roadmap. Thanks for adding your vote!

Hi friends -- Our Product Team has moved this work into our roadmap, so I'm updating the status of this Idea to Planned. I'll report back here when I have more details. Thanks for sharing your use cases here and voting this Idea up!

I haven't gotten an update on this in a while.  I'll check in with the Product owners and see if I can't find an update to post here.

I'm glad to hear that this idea has gone from Idea to Planned. I find that most of my time spent in Emma has to do with reapplying text styling. I would like to be able to set a default styles from the editor for body text, and h tags. That would greatly simplify my life and impress my agency clients.

Curious about the status of this.  I, too, am frustrated that I have to go into every single block, select all, and apply 15pt to my fonts.  My organization wants links in blue and I want that in the CSS that goes with my template.  I shouldn't have to select and change the color for every. single. <a href>. in my mailings.

Hey folks!  I wanted to chime in since we've had a few posts about this lately.

I've checked in with my product team, and unfortunately some other things have come up that needed to take precedence right now.

We do still have this in the pipeline, but I don't have a firm date for you as of now.

I will keep you guys posted as I get more info!

I'm just curious if you've been able to set up this function?

Cool!   I'll have someone from our Design team reach out via email to discuss what you're looking for specifically, how many and which templates, and get you a quote.

Cheers!

I know your Design Team can make this happen on a case by case basis, but I'd like to reiterate that this is probably an enhancement that your customers across the board want too.

I'm with Cynthia - this has been an ongoing request for at least 2 years, based on the age of this thread.  IIRC you have to pay to have your templates customized.  Is that correct?

I'm with Cynthia and Loh. The ability to glean great data from a myemma mailing is a great reason to use it however, the struggle with setting and keeping design styles including fonts and positioning could be frustrating. If Myemma were to make the design universally easy to manage and set, very few services could touch it.

Hey guys... Loh, you are correct, there is a charge for having a designer customize your template.  I'm not sure how much it would be to get that added in.

And Wellmont, I agree it would be quite a useful tool.  Thanks for the feedback!

Any updates on this feature or ETA on rollout? I agree with all here. It is vital that you can apply a master CSS style across the account installation to help the various departments stay cohesive. It is cumbersome, time-consuming and lazy to do otherwise. Please fix ASAP!

In addition, please add another vote for including Google fonts to your emails. It is ridiculous to sit in the dark ages for fonts in email any longer. Help a designer out. :)

Not only would this be helpful, but it would hopefully correct the new text being entered as the default font type. As CEAP said 2 years ago, anything new added always defaults to the Arial Font. Really Annoying.

I am in agreement with all on this thread who are calling for the roll out of this capability. It really is hard to believe that this has not risen to the top of the 'to do' list. It seems to be a basic 'want' and 'need' and whoever I tell about this limitation does not believe me when I tell them it is not possible. I finally decided to see if I was wrong and dig further and that is when I found this thread. I sincerely wish I was proven wrong this time. Please Emma peeps, make this happen.

Very much agreed. This seems a basic feature that will save a LOT of time and allow for much better brand consistency.
