Template auto-save issue

Is there a way to stop the Emma 'auto-save' feature on templates? It's driving me absolutely insane. I accidentally dropped a \ in the template code while editing the footer and hitting enter, and it wiped out almost all of my footer and ruined the footer code. There's no going back when switching from Code to HTML view to see how the edits looked so I'm left backtracking on hours of work to fix this.

Sure, I get why auto-save is a feature, but it would be great to be able to turn it off for those that it doesn't help (hand raised high).

Hi Ashley -- Thanks for sharing this experience. I'm going to check with the Product Team to see if that is expected behavior related to the autosave feature and if we might be able to plan some work around that!

Hi Ashley -- I've updated the status here to Under consideration. As we continue to make updates to Template Builder down the road, we'll consider the options for making the auto-save feature optional.

Our team is also experiencing frustration with this feature. The ability to toggle this on or off on a per user basis would be awesome! Thanks for considering!

I absolutely agree, Ashley. The autosave function is exceedingly frustrating. I don't even want it toggled, I'd just like it removed.

Thanks for sharing your use case here! I'd like to pass this directly to our Product Team. Can you tell me what account you're working in? Thanks!

I'll chime in here too with a +1. The autosave feature can be handy for saving changes along the way, but extremely frustrating when you make a mistake and cannot undo it. The autosave happens so quickly that it save the mistake, and the undo button is often useless to help.

Has there been any action on this? I find it completely frustrating as well. The autosave should be able to be changed by the user. Want it to save every 30 seconds? Two minutes? Ten minutes? As it is now, it's way too fast. Like the gent from Cedarville U. says, it makes the undo function practically nonexistent.

Hey there,

We currently still don't have anything specific laid out for this.  It will probably be a part of larger improvements / changes to the editor as a whole.  I'll go ahead and add you in on the list of requests for this feature.

Cheers!

Add me to this - can't believe your dev team missed something so basic as allowing a 60 sec delay between saves - seriously screws me up every time I use your system!

I'm going to add to this as well. I would like the option to toggle auto-save on and off...
