Tracking social media traffic

We're having great success using the social media share icons in our mailings, and it's great that I can see who has shared our mailing on which platform, and how many people have clicked through.

Is there a possibility of being able to then track the click-through rate from these social media shares? For example, if we have 100 people visit the mailing via a share on Twitter, can we then see if these people have clicked through to any of my links? Thanks :)

So glad to hear your social media share traffic is up! It sounds like you want to see which links I click in your mailing after I click to view the mailing that you posted on Twitter. You aren’t missing it; that just isn’t trackable.

Any chance this answer has changed in the past 3 years if I am posting a mailing using the social posting feature?

Hey there! This functionality has not changed.  Effectively, the mailing that is being posted to social media is the "webview" of your mailing, and since there is not an Emma contact attached to that version of the mailing, we aren't able to track those clicks.

Can you enable social sharing on certain content blocks within the email/newsletter? --Jerry

Hey Jerry,

Were you looking for the ability to ONLY share what's in that specific content block?   That functionality isn't available, as any sharing that you do is for the webview of the mailing as a whole.

If you're looking to add in a social share option to the body of your email, you can using a bit of code.  Check out this post where we talk about that functionality.
