How does Emma manage the difference between a user managing their preferences, and the organization uploading new customer data into the same Audience?

Use Case: lizstephenson22@yahoo.com, clicks Manage My Preferences and selects to NOT receive email from Audience A. Based on her demographics, the organization places her in Audience A a few days later.

When the next email from Audience A drops, does lizstephenson22 receive it, or what happens?

Hi, and thanks for posting! This is a great question. There are two parts to this answer.

With your signup forms (which control the manage preferences forms) you can choose to show or hide your group names. If you have chosen to show your group names then a customer could choose to be removed from a group. That said, if you import your list into said group next week they would be added back to the group. Your change would overwrite the change they made.

The second part of this is regarding audience member fields. If a customer modifies information in their member fields (ie., mailing address, phone number, favorite ice cream flavor) then things may be a bit different. If on your next import you choose "add only" then Emma will not modify the member information for addresses already in the account. If you choose to "add and update" then new members will be added and any additional member information on that spreadsheet will overwrite the information currently in your account for those members who previously existed.

The general rule is that the most recent change, whether done by the customer or through your import, will be the one that Emma applies.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to post them here.
